- Red-surfaced bike paths are typical of the Netherlands.
- Shared e-scooters in Germany carry a small insurance plate on the back.
- Early dockless fleets (2017–18) ran lightly modified consumer scooters; later fleets moved to heavier purpose-built models with bigger wheels and swappable batteries.
- Kerb paint, street-name signs and car number plates often give the country away.
